What this is
UltraPacerBG works out a pacing plan from a GPX file: a pace for each kilometre worked out against the gradient, and expected times at the checkpoints. It is a personal project.
Who runs the site
UltraPacerBG is run by Plamen Karolev as a personal, non-commercial project. For questions, errors and requests — privacy@karolev.org.
The plan is an estimate, not advice
You use this site and the plans it produces entirely at your own risk.
The numbers come out of a mathematical model applied to a file somebody uploaded. The model does not know the weather, what the ground is like under the snow, how you slept, or whether the aid station is really where the marker says. Mountain running carries real risk, including to life.
The decisions on the course are yours. Do not start if the weather, your condition or your kit say otherwise, whatever the plan says. The organiser's official times are the ones on the organiser's own page, not the ones here.
This is not medical or coaching advice. If you have a health condition, ask a doctor, not a website.
How accurate the figures are
Distance and climb are computed from the GPX and are only as good as it is. Climb especially is a question of method — the same file yields different numbers in different tools. Where an organiser publishes their own figures, they are shown as theirs, beside what we measured.
Accounts
You sign in with Google, Facebook, Discord or with an email and password; two-factor sign-in is optional. Keeping your mailbox and password secure is on you. An organiser approved by an admin edits the checkpoints and details of their own races directly — and answers for them being right. An account may be suspended for misuse — uploading someone else's material without the right to, attempting to break in, or deliberately overloading the service. Your name and photo must be your own — not someone else’s and not offensive; otherwise we remove them. Points and levels are for fun: they have no value, their rules may change, and points gathered by cheating are taken away.
One account is for one person. Two accounts of one person, made for more points or to get round a suspension, are merged or suspended.
You may have an account if you are over 14; younger than that, only with a parent's consent.
You can delete your account at any time from Profile. Your plans, runs and personal courses go with it; courses marked as races stay as a shared reference.
What you upload
By uploading a GPX you confirm you are entitled to share it. You keep your rights in it; you grant only what is needed for the site to store it, show it and compute against it.
A course marked as a race is a shared reference — visible to everyone, and other people build plans on it. Deleting one therefore goes through a request to the administrator, including when you uploaded it yourself. Personal routes are deleted immediately and without asking.
Availability
There is no uptime guarantee. The site may be unreachable, lose features, or stop. Do not rely on it as your only source during a race — the watch carries the plan with it precisely for that reason.
Liability
The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for loss arising from using it. Your statutory rights as a consumer under Bulgarian and EU law are unaffected.
Support
Support through Ko-fi or PayPal is voluntary and gives no service, advantage or right to anything. They process the payment — no card details pass through or are kept here. Support is not refunded unless it was made by mistake — then write to us.
Governing law
Bulgarian law applies.
